Eloqi is an AI-powered speech training app designed to transform how people build and refine their communication skills. With tools focused on clarity, pacing, tone, and articulation, the app offers a dynamic, hands-on experience through guided sessions, real-time feedback, and progress tracking.
For many, speaking clearly and confidently can be a real challenge. Whether it’s for a high-stakes interview or just making conversation, there's a lack of approachable, flexible tools that help people practice and improve without the pressure of a live audience or expensive coaching.
Eloqi gives users a smart, supportive space to sharpen their speaking skills anytime they want. It offers guided simulations, personalized practice modes, and real-time feedback, all designed to help users feel more prepared and in control of how they communicate.
UX research, UI design, UX - Business - Branding
To better understand the real world challenges people face with verbal communication, I conducted user interviews with 3 individuals from different backgrounds and confidence levels. The goal was to uncover habits, fears, and needs around speaking and presentation.
Many users feel anxious about speaking on the spot, especially in professional scenarios like interviews.
Users want short, flexible practice formats they can fit into their routines.
Confidence often drops when users are unsure how they sound to others.
Real-time feedback is seen as valuable, but only if it feels constructive and easy to understand.
There’s a desire for non-judgmental practice spaces where mistakes feel safe.
Some users struggle to know what to practice, and appreciate guided suggestions or structure.
By analyzing leading speech training tools, I identified key areas where Eloqi can provide a more personalized, flexible, and human experience.
To better understand the users mindset and emotional journey, I created an empathy map based on insights from interviews. It captures what they see, think, say, feel, and do when facing communication challenges.
Through user interviews and research, several recurring communication challenges emerged. These pain points helped shape the foundation of Eloqi’s core features:
Lack of personalized tools for improving speaking skills
Limited time to practice consistently or attend coaching sessions
Anxiety when speaking in high-pressure situations like interviews
Speaking practice often feels awkward or directionless when done alone
Difficulty getting feedback that's specific, helpful, and non-judgmental
No easy way to track progress or know if they’re actually improving
After gathering insights, I focused on defining the core challenge users face. I created clear user personas, mapped out pain points, and crafted a strong value proposition to guide the design. This helped narrow the scope and shape a focused solution that aligned with real user needs.
Many people struggle to express themselves clearly and confidently in real-life situations like interviews, presentations, or public speaking. Traditional speech coaching is often expensive, time-consuming, or inaccessible, and current digital tools lack personalization, real-time feedback, or practical scenarios that users can relate to.
Eloqi is a mobile-first, AI-powered communication coach designed to help users improve their speaking skills through short, guided practice sessions tailored to real-life scenarios. Whether users are preparing for a job interview, a class presentation, or everyday conversation, Eloqi offers dynamic speech simulations, instant voice analysis, and clear, actionable feedback on tone, pacing, and articulation. With flexible practice modes, personalized learning paths, and an intuitive interface, Eloqi empowers users to build speaking confidence at their own pace, anytime, anywhere.
To ensure the MVP focused on the most valuable user needs, I used the MoSCoW method (Must-have, Should-have, Could-have, Won’t-have yet) to prioritize Eloqi’s features based on user interviews, feasibility, and business goals.
I structured the app’s journey with sitemaps and user flows to ensure a smooth and intuitive experience. This step helped outline how users move through the app, from onboarding to completing their speech goals.
I created low-fi wireframes and designed the brand identity for Eloqi to align with its core values.
Through usability testing, I discovered users wanted a more intuitive and less cluttered experience. In response, I introduced Eloh, an in-app voice coach that greets users on the simplified home screen. Users can now speak directly to Eloh to begin practice, making the experience feel more natural, conversational, and guided.
Finally, I delivered polished, high-fidelity designs that brought everything together.
